Students should plan on showing each week and plan on having extra money to cover their show costs. It is a good idea to have extra money to cover eating out and any things that you might need (shopping, field trips, etc.).
We provide laundry facilities for your use.
Spending Money - addition to regular tuition, you will be making a separate payment for your student's money, horse show and incidental expenses. This will be held in a separate account in trust for the student. We'll send you an accounting at the end of the season, and a refund of any unused funds. Although showing here in Western NY is cheaper than in many parts of the country, showing costs add up quickly, and our 'extra's' are an addition to your cost of attending Dunham Sport Horses. These are not 'hidden extras' -- read the details below --
Incidental Expenses - Every so often during the week we will eat out or go on a field trip (icecream, pizza, Amish tour, etc....) these expenses average about $50.00 to $75.00 per week..
Horse shows costs average about $225 for away shows. These costs include a basic $65 showing fee plus your entry fees and horse vanning cost for the shows. Although participation in horse shows are optional, nearly all of our students take part. We will again take part in the Cattauragus Co. Fair and the open show in Little Valley, New York. We will be attending several shows in addition to the Southtown Summer Shows. We also will ride on a cross-country course in the area. We ride rain or shine as we have an indoor riding arena; Last year with all the rain we did not miss a day of riding.
The "A" rated three day show at Erie County Fair and costs between $550 - $800.
Plan on going to the Erie Co.Fair? You have to let us know as we have to reserve our stalls.
Other costs include, airport pick-up and drop-off, $60 each way if applicable.
HOW TO SIGN UP:
Fill out the Registration Form , and follow directions on there to guarantee your space ! Once we receive the $400 deposit your space will be CONFIRMED. Also feel free to call and we will be happy to answer any more detailed questions that you might have.
We have a limited number of scholarships that we give out each year. Send in your deposit and call and get information about how to apply for a scholarship for the 2010 season. It is not difficult, and it is a great way to get help to ride a horse 5 hour for the summer at Dunham Sport Horse.
We are waiting to hear from you. If you were a camper or student last year we want to hear from you now. Several students are already making plans for next year.
